It's Day 2 of my 30 days of writing and I'd like to talk to my blogger friends out there today. As writers, we sometimes tend to go with the flow especially when that dreaded writer's block releases us from her icy grip and we're so excited that we just start writing about everything from the dust bunny in the corner of your office to what you're planning on making for dinner.
See what I just did? Ha - sneaky, but did I lose you a bit there, too?
Writing a blog post can be exciting for both you and your reader if you tidy up those long paragraphs and run on sentences.
Here is a list of my top 4 tips for a great blog post.
White space - We LOVE to have white space in a post. It helps the eye flow down the page and organizes your visual content better. Your eye constantly needs a break especially if you don't use photos or graphics, which leads me to number 2.
Graphics or photos - When is the last time you can remember reading through a whole page of online content without photos or graphics to break things up? Unless you're on an e-reader. People love photos and visuals that help illustrate the points you're making in your post.
Bullet points - I am a huge proponent of bullet points. Most times a reader will be skimming your post anyway and providing them with bullet points helps them grab the important parts before clicking off to another site.
Fonts/Headers - If you have the option to use headers on your blogging platform, I suggest you make use of the suggested fonts and sizes. This is another way to make your blog post more readable and organized.
I hope this helped you today! We'll be going over some other ways to make your blog stand out among the millions that are out there in another post.
Thanks for reading!
