For day 3 of my 30 days of writing challenge, I am sharing some of my favorite creative writing prompts that always help me get out of a writing funk.

Especially since I'm in a bit of one right now!

Truth be told, weekends are a little tough for me with the hubby home to get my creative writing juices flowing. I naturally want to spend time with him, the dogs and do fun things... not that writing isn't fun!

So, these creative prompts are just what I need, even if you don't. Ha!

  1. Take a look around you and pick out 1 thing. Describe it in great detail. What does it look like? Does it have a taste or smell? What is it used for and why? Where did it come from?

  2. Write a short, descriptive fairy tale about your favorite animal using them as the main character.

  3. Pretend a famous author asked you to write the last chapter of their book entitled, "The Enchanting of Mr. Sylvester Pippin." Now write it!

  4. Words are fun. What are some of your favorite words? Write a 200 word essay with your favorite words.

  5. Turn on the radio or streaming music and describe the music as if you were describing a landscape scene. Is it flowing? Are their mountains and valleys? Is it red and vibrant or pale grey? Use your imagination.

Have fun and I hope they help get your creativity flowing!
