How to Use AI for Writing Without Selling Out

I was one of those people that held out when emails first came out. I couldn't figure out why one would want to spend hours behind a desk at a "plastic box" staring at a black screen with green flashing letters.

Ok, I know I'm really dating myself here, but I know I'm not the only one!

Fast forward a few years, I sucked it up, got my AOL and Hotmail emails set up and never looked back.

Last year when AI (Artificial Intelligence) hit the news headlines with all the debate of whether it would eradicate the human race, I was extremely interested and scared...that is, until I learned how awesome it can be. I "befriended" 2 websites: Chat GPT for writing and Midjourney for AI art. Let me tell you, I have become a huge believer!

It's been somewhat of a moral issue especially amongst writers and authors - I mean, I can literally go on Chat GPT right now and ask it to write me a 1000 word blog post on "How to use AI" - I could've used it to write this out (could you even tell?), but instead, I am using my own brain and my own opinions to compose this post.

However, Chat GPT is so great at saving you time with the idea generation and that's exactly what I use it for.

How does it work? When using it for idea generation, it can save tons of time - just give it a command like, "Give me 5 ideas for a good fairy tale plot", or "Give me a list of 20 tips on how to build more muscle". It will go to work and come up with more ideas than you can ever imagine.

Is anyone interested in learning more? I'd be happy to go through how I use AI in more depth in another post, but for now, why don't you explore a little? Get out there and embrace what is coming in the near future whether you like it or not.

xo, Kathleen

PS - by the way, I created the photo below in Midjourney by asking it for a "bright, sunny room filled with plants and rainbow colors."
